A New Initiative Helps to Relieve the Financial Burden for Military Families in Scouting

Would You Like to Help Scouts with Camping Equipment Needs?

In support of the ideals set forth by the Worldwide Scouting Movement and in order to promote wilderness camping experiences, The Memorial Scout Camp has established the MSC Camping Essentials Program. This program makes essential camping equipment available to any scout in need upon the recommendation of their Scout group leader.

Scouts may only be recommended to receive one piece of equipment per recommendation cycle. Any adult in a leadership role in for a Scout group, district, council, or national organization may recommend a Scout; however, under no circumstances should a scout be recommended by immediate family member.

Any scout involved in the Worldwide Scouting Movement is eligible to receive a piece of essential camping equipment based on the recommendation of their scout group leader…This includes any youth of any gender in any Scouting organization. Scouts must have an address that is eligible to receive a delivery from Amazon. Scouts should be recommended based on financial need.

A scout can be recommended for one piece of essential camping gear per calendar year.

If you know a scout in need, go to our website and fill out our web-based recommendation form today. Recommendations should be completed by the scout group leader, or by another adult who is not in the scout's family.

Applications are due by 11:59 PM Eastern time on September 20, 2026, so don't delay! Applications will be reviewed at the October board meeting of the organization and recipients will be notified shortly thereafter of their selection.
